Chris Kringle Johnston

Dear Diary,

The North Pole is humming with holiday energy! The workshop floor is a blur of jingling bells, whirring toy parts, and elf chatter. We’ve officially entered what Mrs. Kringle calls “Cocoa Crisis Season”—that magical stretch when the elves drink more hot chocolate than they wrap presents. She’s been busy baking gingerbread by the sleigh-load and knitting new scarves for the reindeer. Blitzen insists on candy-cane stripes this year.

Today, I oversaw the final test flight of the sleigh’s new peppermint-fueled booster. The elves say it’s “eco-friendly and extra jolly.” I say it smells like dessert and goes like the wind. Meanwhile, the Naughty & Nice list is getting its final sparkle. Mrs. Kringle added a column for “Kindness Surprises”—those unexpected good deeds that warm the heart. Brilliant idea, as always.

After dinner (roast chestnuts and cranberry stuffing), we took a stroll past the Ice Sculpture Garden. The elves carved a ten-foot-tall snow penguin wearing sunglasses. I laughed so hard my belly shook like a bowl full of jelly.

Back to the list tomorrow. The world’s children are counting on us—and Mrs. Kringle’s peppermint bark is calling my name.
